Princess Pamina has been captured. Her mother, the Queen of the Night, asks Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter. But when Tamino and his friendly henchman, Papageno, set out on their adventure, they soon realize that in the search for love, appearances can be deceiving. Guided by a magic flute, they will encounter monsters, villains and a mysterious male brotherhood. But help, as they will discover, appears when they least expect it.
Mozart’s fantastic opera shines in this fascinating production by David McVicar. The cast includes Lucy Crowe as Pamina, Amitai Pati as Tamino, Huw Montague Rendall as Papageno, Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night and Soloman Howard as Sarastro. The musical direction is in charge of the French Marie Jacquot, who makes her Covent Garden debut with this work.
