1937. Karmele and her family take refuge in France after being expelled from their home because of the war. There, Karmele is contacted by the Basque cultural embassy in exile, which tries to fight the war through music and dance, and meets Txomin, a professional trumpet player with whom she falls in love. After living for a while in Venezuela, the couple returns home to fight against the dictatorship in the hope of recovering everything that was taken away from them.
